There are many important factors to consider when choosing a new dog. Size, behavior, age, fur color, and breed are all very important things to consider.
Places to get a new dog:
Many people believe that pet shelters are the best place to choose out your new family member. I can mostly agree with this. When you adopt a dog from a shelter, you are potentially saving it from being put down for various reasons including overcrowded space at the shelter. Other people think that animal stores, such as PetsMart or PetCo are the best places to pick up a dog. The benefit of purchasing a pet from a store like that, is the peace of mind from knowing that the animal was well treated and has been checked for all kinds of harmful diseases. There are even some people that know neighbors or family members who have pets that they are looking to get rid of. If this is your situation, you should be able to get a dog from them for very cheap, or even free. Please remember that after you get a pet, it is now a member of your family and should be treated like a king or queen!!!
There are thousands of dog breeds to choose from. You can have anything from a Miniature Italian Greyhound to a Golden lab. One of the biggest factors you should consider for choosing a dog breed is its size. If you have small children, you should make sure that they will be able to get along with the dog before you purchase one.
This factor is mainly up to YOU! If you like black dogs, get a black one! If you like brown dogs, get a brown one! You get the idea
